Or designs that consistent for hundreds of years? Visual Culture Optical Ltd is the one-stop spectacles boutique that assembles famous brands from all over the world. Using glasses as a medium, the shop aims to introduce cultures of different countries, preserves good tradition and leads the trend. Their premium store also in accordance with the sprit of the shop line, and visualizes the spirit by the design of the interior of the store.
Early materials for manufacturing glasses include different natural and artificial substances, such as shells of hawksbills and several kinds of metals, here comes the contrast between natural beauty and delicate craftsmanship within these materials, the “intersection” of two kinds of materials makes the design theme of the interior space of the store. The full height wooden display cabinet with the shop logo signage has become the topic of this project, it also explains both utility and expressivity of natural materials; meanwhile the shop logo and brand signage are carved by mirror finished stainless steel, where the trend is hidden within. The intersection and contrast can be seen from the two different kind of ambient.
Different from the main glasses store at Central, its white coloured theme is eye-catching, antique yet industrial; however the design team requires the image of this new shop at Tsim Sha Tsui tends to be customers-friendly and practical yet proactive. Thus the massive application of wooden finish in the shop has become more rational, even if the design style is off-track from its retail chain and becomes more unique. Taking the roles as the road signs that lead customers into the shop, several wooden finished walls have swept toward the cool and grey ceramic tiles flooring. What people could find inside are the contrasts between coolness and warmness, soft and hard, which forms a diversified space.
